The Mayan calendar is a tool that helps us understand our lives, weaving a relationship with time as nourishment for our destiny. In this gift, we can also understand the ritual of the day. On this occasion, we want to share with each of you the space of connection with the nahuales, as well as the trecenas found in the sacred Mayan calendar.
In this series of discussions, Tata Walter will guide us as we gather in community at the start of every trecena to honor and explore the nahual that ushers it in. This nahual is significant because its energy will carry the theme of the entire 13-day cycle. Here we will also have the opportunity to get to know the influence the nahuales have as the guide for each trecena as an essential part of each nahual from the beginning of the trecena.
During our first discussion, we will connect with the nahual Ee (wildcat) as the first energy with which we will introduce ourselves. This energy helps us to walk with time. We have it as the nahual of opening to the trecena; it symbolizes beginnings, creation, process, as well as evolution. The Ee as a nahual symbolizes the spirit of freedom; be it the nahual that walks between worlds, spiritual leaders, and travelers.
